Solid cloud cover today, with a firm SW blow and pressure ticking upward. Fish at Pine Lake should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. Expect the better fishing from morning through afternoon. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Waukesha County, Pine Lake is a Wisconsin water. It sits in mixed forest country. The water covers around 716 acres, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The shoreline runs about 6.4 miles, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It ranks high for size among our Waukesha County listings. The town to know is Nashotah, 1.7 miles out. Further out sit Hartland (2.4 miles) and Okauchee Lake (2.9 miles). No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
The charted maximum sits at about 85 feet. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Waukesha County include common carp, bluegill, brown trout and rainbow trout. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Pine Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate records put July near 71°F and January near 17°F. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early April. The lid tends to go about early April and return around mid December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Pine Lake.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Beaver Lake is 1.4 miles off. None of that is settled for Pine Lake in what we hold.
