A cloudless sky and strong light today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks and pressure leaking away. Start the search at Oswego Lake along points where shallow meets deep. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Set in Vilas County, Oswego Lake is a Wisconsin water. Country round the bank runs to lake country bush. With some 68 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 1.6 miles of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It is high ground by Wisconsin standards. Lac du Flambeau is the closest town at 18 miles. Green Bay is the closest city, 136 miles away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Vilas County, recorded fish include bluegill, yellow perch, walleye and largemouth bass. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Oswego Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Long-term averages put July at about 65°F and January near 9°F. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Anyone fishing Oswego Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Grassy Lake at 0.7 miles is the sensible second choice. Treat Oswego Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
