Showers crossing the water today, with calm air over the water with pressure dropping. Lost Land Lake should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lost Land Lake in Bayfield County, Wisconsin. This is rolling bush country. At some 3.7 sq miles it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. You are looking at roughly 9.3 miles of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Nothing else we list in Bayfield County covers more water. Little Round Lake is the closest place, 14 miles off. After that come Hayward at 17 miles and Park Falls at 36 miles. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Bayfield County, recorded fish include rainbow smelt, brown trout and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The shape of Lost Land Lake decides where the fish sit.
The range across the year is 8°F to 66°F. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid April. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid April in spring and again near late November in autumn. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lost Land Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Ole Lake, 1.7 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Lost Land Lake locally before you travel.
