Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with air barely moving and the barometer on the way down. The water to cover at Granite Lake is the weed line and any gaps in it. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Granite Lake in Barron County, Wisconsin. The bank gives way to pine and birch. With some 155 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge covers about 3.4 miles, enough to hold several distinct areas. Head to Cumberland, 3.4 miles away, for anything you forgot. For a city, Saint Paul is 69 miles off. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. County-wide records name brown trout, largemouth bass, northern pike and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Granite Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July near 69°F and January near 10°F on the long-run figures. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near mid April. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Granite Lake.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. The nearest alternative is Little Granite Lake, 0.7 miles out. For Granite Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
