Bright, clear skies over the water today, with a mirror surface most of the day with pressure dropping. Most of the action on Tenas Lake should come off points where shallow meets deep. The strongest window is the evening. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Tenas Lake is one of the Mason County listings for Washington. The water sits 853 feet up. About 10 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. 16 miles away sits Belfair, the nearest town. Allyn is 18 miles away, with Seabeck at 18 miles. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Mason County include Chum salmon, cutthroat trout, Coho salmon and largemouth bass. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Work Tenas Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The year swings from about 37°F in December to roughly 60°F in August. The freeze here is occasional rather than annual. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. On Tenas Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Melbourne Lake at 1.6 miles is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Tenas Lake in what we hold.
