A closed sky with even light today, with just enough SSE wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. On Roger Lake, work the shallows early and the drop later first. Everything points to the middle of the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Roger Lake in the Okanogan County part of Washington. The ground around here is pine and birch. At roughly 6 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It sits higher than most water we list in Washington. The nearest town is Tonasket, 24 miles away. Omak lies 26 miles off, Okanogan another 27 miles. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Okanogan County records list rainbow trout, largemouth bass, sockeye salmon, yellow perch and smallmouth bass among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Roger Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Typical August readings run about 54°F; by December the average is down near 17°F. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. That shapes the year on Roger Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. You will be walking about 0.9 miles from the nearest car park. Roger Lake Research Natural Area covers this ground, which means extra rules to check. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Little Tiffany Lake at 2.3 miles is the nearest alternative. Treat access at Roger Lake as something to verify.
