A rainy spell sitting over the area, with air barely moving with a firming glass. Expect most activity at Rock Creek around the tail-outs as light fades. The day holds up well from afternoon into evening. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Rock Creek in King County, Washington. The water sits 587 feet up. Head to Black Diamond, 1.4 miles away, for anything you forgot. It is 11 miles to Kent, the nearest city. If this one is busy: Lake Sawyer a touch under 1 mile, Horseshoe Lake the better part of 1.1 miles, Jones Lake a touch under 1.7 miles, Lake Number Twelve the better part of 2.4 miles and Ravensdale Lake a touch under 2.6 miles. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The head and tail of a pool beat the body of it. Gravel runs and silted pools fish quite differently, so treat them apart. Survey and observation records for King County include Chum salmon, Coho salmon and Chinook salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Rock Creek the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Long-run averages give August about 64°F and January about 38°F. There is no frozen season to plan round. Shade and hour of day matter more than month. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Plan any trip to Rock Creek around it. Water colour tells you more than the air temperature does.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. There is a launch about half a mile from the bank. You will be walking about half a mile from the nearest car park. There are toilets half a mile off. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. If the gate is shut, Lake Sawyer at 1 mile is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Rock Creek before loading the car.
