A half-covered sky tonight, with almost no wind to speak of and steady pressure. On Monogram Lake, work shallow cover and weed edges first. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

You will find Monogram Lake in Skagit County, Washington. It lies 4,846 feet above sea level. It measures about 29 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Darrington is the closest place, 26 miles off. Chilliwack sits 52 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Others close at hand: La Rush Lake at about 3.7 miles, Stout Lake lies 4.5 miles on, Bear Lake at about 4.7 miles, Hidden Lake lies 6 miles on and Buller Lake at about 6.2 miles. No border sits close enough to matter.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Skagit County, recorded fish include Coho salmon, Chum salmon and pink salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Monogram Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
August is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 59°F, while December sits near 28°F. A long season, with weather mattering more than the month. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. Monogram Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping shows a campsite some half a mile from the water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is La Rush Lake, 3.7 miles out. Treat Monogram Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
