A broken sky giving spells of shade, with almost no wind to speak of and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Meadow Lake should hold close to points where shallow meets deep. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Meadow Lake is one of the Okanogan County waters in Washington. Elevation runs to 4,131 feet. This is a pocket water of some 5 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Oroville lies 8.3 miles from the water. Further out sit Osoyoos (13 miles) and Tonasket (15 miles). No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Okanogan County cover rainbow trout, largemouth bass, sockeye salmon and yellow perch. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Meadow Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Between January at about 21°F and August at about 62°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early April. The season between ice runs from about early April to late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Meadow Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It is recorded as intermittent, which means the basin empties in dry spells. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. The nearest alternative is Summit Lake, 3.2 miles out.
