No direct sun expected today, with calm air over the water with the glass on the way up. The productive water at Everett Lake will be around the seam between weed and open water. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Out in Skagit County, Washington, sits Everett Lake. The ground around here is farm and woodlot. About 9 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. For a base, Darrington sits 21 miles out. Further out sit Sedro-Woolley (23 miles) and Clear Lake (24 miles). Close by you also have: Vogler Lake 2.9 miles away, Lake Shannon 2.9 miles off, Lake Tyee 2.9 miles away, Grandy Lake 3.8 miles off and Sauk Lake 6.3 miles away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Reported across Skagit County: Coho salmon, Chum salmon, pink salmon, rainbow trout and Chinook salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Everett Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Seasonal averages run from 34°F in January up to 63°F in August. In milder years the surface never sets. In milder years the edges alone go, and the middle never sets. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Everett Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Launching is at Baker River Boat Launch, about half a mile away. Skagit-Baker Confluence sits half a mile away and is marked for fishing. A toilet block sits half a mile away. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Vogler Lake at 2.9 miles is the nearest alternative. What applies at Everett Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
