No direct sun expected today, with almost no wind to speak of and the barometer heading up. Give the mouth when the tide is running the first hour at Crescent Bay. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Grant County in Washington is where Crescent Bay sits. It stands 1,302 feet above sea level. The water covers some 92 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 2.4 miles all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Grand Coulee sits 0.6 miles from here and is the nearest stop. It is 75 miles to Spokane, the nearest city. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Grant County include yellow perch, largemouth bass, bluegill and black crappie. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Read Crescent Bay for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Temperature averages peak at 71°F in July and bottom out at 27°F in January. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. It is not guaranteed from one year to the next. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. Crescent Bay runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping records boats as not allowed here, so plan to fish from the bank. A launch point is recorded some half a mile off. A parking area is marked roughly half a mile out. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. For a change of water, Long Lake is 2.9 miles distant. Rules at Crescent Bay are worth checking on the day.
