Passing showers with dry spells between, with the water lying quiet and pressure on the rise. Blue Lake should fish best around the shaded margin through bright spells today. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Blue Lake is a Skagit County water, Washington side. It sits 30 miles in from the sea. It covers about 13 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. For supplies, Sedro-Woolley is 23 miles out. Abbotsford sits 35 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Skagit County include Coho salmon, Chum salmon, pink salmon and rainbow trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Blue Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect August to average close to 60°F, with January the cold end at about 31°F. In milder years the surface never sets. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Blue Lake fishes to that pattern most years. After heavy rain, give the water a day to settle.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. You will be walking about half a mile from the nearest car park. Toilets are half a mile away, which matters on a long session. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Tuckway Lake at 0.7 miles is the sensible second choice. What applies at Blue Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
