A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with a kind NE breeze on the water as pressure builds. On Blue Lake, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Douglas County, Washington, is where Blue Lake sits. Around the bank it is open dry country. It measures some 527 acres, and wind has room to build across it. At about 6.8 miles of edge, most people work one arm at a time. On our Douglas County list it sits near the top for size. 12 miles away sits Soap Lake, the nearest town. Ephrata follows at 18 miles, then Moses Lake North at 26 miles. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Douglas County list largemouth bass, sockeye salmon, black crappie and bluegill. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Blue Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Typical July readings run about 72°F; by January the average is down near 27°F. Temperature moves within a narrow band, and so does the fishing. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. Plan around that when you fish Blue Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. A slipway half a mile out gives trailer access. For boats, Coulee Lodge Resort Marina lies half a mile out. A car park lies half a mile away, so the walk in is short. Mapping shows a jetty some half a mile off. There is a toilet block some half a mile out. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Park Lake sits 1.9 miles off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Blue Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
