Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a soft S wind with pressure dropping. The water to cover at Ticklenaked Pond is whatever cover the water offers. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

In Vermont, Ticklenaked Pond falls inside Orange County. The bank is 883 feet above sea level. Surface area is around 55 acres, which gives you real water without needing a boat. About 1.5 miles of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. On our Orange County list it sits near the top for size. Head to Woodsville, 3.9 miles away, for anything you forgot. Haverhill is 11 miles and Saint Johnsbury 16 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Orange County records list brook trout, rainbow trout, white sucker, longnose sucker and redbreast sunfish among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Ticklenaked Pond repays a walk before the first cast.
On the long-term average, July reads 67°F and January reads 15°F. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Averages suggest open water from about mid April through to roughly early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Ticklenaked Pond rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. A slipway is marked about half a mile from here. There is a car park, Ticklenaked Pond, half a mile from the bank. Public data records a pier about 150 yards out. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Harriman Pond is 6 miles off. Ask locally about Ticklenaked Pond if anything is unclear.
