Wet weather working through today, with a busy SW wind on the open water and pressure easing off. Give the closest cover to deeper water the first hour at Grout Pond. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Grout Pond is listed under Windham County, Vermont. The setting is pine and birch on every side. With some 86 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 2.0 miles, and most of it is walkable. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Vermont listings. The closest town, Jamaica, is 9.3 miles away. Dover lies 9.9 miles off, Arlington another 11 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Windham County names brook trout, white sucker, brown trout and brown bullhead. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Grout Pond the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July to average close to 64°F, with January the cold end at about 16°F. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice-out usually falls in mid April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages place the thaw at mid April and the freeze at early December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Grout Pond.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Parking is not close: half a mile from the bank, and no nearer option is mapped. You can camp about half a mile away, going by the mapping. Facilities include toilets around half a mile from here. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lost Pond, 4.2 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Grout Pond.
