Solid cloud cover today, with a whisper of wind from the N with a softening glass. On White Miller Lake, work sheltered bays and points first. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

White Miller Lake is one of the Duchesne County waters in Utah. It stands 10,705 feet above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 9 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The closest town, Roosevelt, is 33 miles away. Then Ballard, 36 miles, and Duchesne, 36 miles. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Duchesne County include brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and Arctic grayling. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. At White Miller Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Temperature averages peak at 52°F in July and bottom out at 17°F in December. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Break-up comes around mid June, and the run that follows is short and strong. The open-water window runs from around mid June to about early November in an average year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. White Miller Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Farmers Lake, 0.8 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Where White Miller Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
