Overcast skies today, with a soft NNE wind with the glass slipping lower. Expect most activity at Lake Lorena around the first drop-off and weed lines. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

The Summit County end of Utah holds Lake Lorena. The surface lies 10,571 feet up. At roughly 12 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Oakley is the closest town at 30 miles. Beyond it, Kamas at 31 miles and Francis at 32 miles. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water. The water is easy to walk round in a long session.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Summit County list brown trout, rainbow trout and cutthroat trout. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lake Lorena the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
The warm month here averages 53°F; the cold one sits at 17°F. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Winter locks it down, and early June brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about early June and the closing near early November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lake Lorena.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Baker Lake sits 0.9 miles off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lake Lorena for certain.
