Heavy overcast holding through the day, with barely a breath of wind as pressure builds. Whatever swims in Castle Lake should be near reed fringes and open pockets. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. A properly cold day, so expect slow, deliberate fishing.

Castle Lake is set in Summit County, Utah. The ground round it is rolling bush. At roughly 10 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Some 8.4 miles away sits Kamas, the nearest settlement. Beyond it, Francis at 9.2 miles and Oakley at 9.7 miles. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Summit County include brown trout, rainbow trout and cutthroat trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Read Castle Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July near 58°F and December near 21°F on the long-run figures. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid May. Ice usually gives way near mid May, and forms again about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. The season on Castle Lake rarely departs from it.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Upper Yellow Pine Lake, 1.6 miles out. None of that is settled for Castle Lake in what we hold.
