A sharp, clear morning turning into a bright day, with light air out of the E and the barometer on the way down. Expect most activity at Swan Lake around reed fringes and open pockets. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Swan Lake is a Brazoria County water, Texas side. Beyond the shoreline you have open low country. The water covers around 380 acres, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. There is roughly 4.6 miles of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. It is low-lying compared with other Texas water we list. Oyster Creek sits 4.2 miles from the bank. For a city, Pearland is 41 miles off. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The tide is the timetable on this water; two hours either side of the change usually fish hardest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records collected within a few miles name silver mullet, flathead grey mullet, Atlantic croaker, black drum and red drum. Check the state or provincial list before planning around one species. Swan Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 84°F on average, January about 54°F. Wet and dry spells shape the year more than temperature. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. Plan any trip to Swan Lake around it. Autumn feeding runs harder as the light drops away.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The car has to stay half a mile away, which shapes how much tackle you bring. A pier or jetty stands half a mile away, which helps on a crowded bank. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. If the gate is shut, Fresh Water Lake at 0.9 miles is the nearest alternative. For Swan Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
