A clear night sky over the water, with a faint NE drift and a falling glass. Fish at Soil Conservation Service Site 1 Reservoir should hold close to secondary points on the windward side. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Soil Conservation Service Site 1 Reservoir lies within the bounds of Williamson County, Texas. The bank is 1,014 feet above sea level. With some 30 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Roughly 1.1 miles of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Leander at 1.9 miles is the nearest place to stop. Liberty Hill lies 5.9 miles off, Jonestown another 6.7 miles. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover Rio Grande longear sunfish, green sunfish, redbreast sunfish, bluegill and Guadalupe bass. It reflects what has been logged, which depends on who was looking. On this water the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
On the long-term average, July reads 83°F and January reads 47°F. Winter is a mild inconvenience here, nothing more. The first and last hours carry the summer; the middle is slow. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. Anyone fishing this water regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. You can park half a mile away and walk in from there. Mapping records toilets within half a mile. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Soil Conservation Service Site 2 Reservoir is 2.5 miles distant. Treat access at this water as something to verify.
