Stars out and no cloud tonight, with the water lying quiet with a firming glass. Whatever swims in Masters Lake should be near reed fringes and open pockets. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Masters Lake lies in Kendall County, in Texas. The water sits 1,604 feet up. At roughly 9 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Kendall County list. For supplies, Boerne is 4.5 miles out. San Antonio sits 30 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Levels move with the draw rather than the rain on water like this. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include bluegill, rainbow trout, Rio Grande longear sunfish and green sunfish. Reporting is uneven, so absence from the list means little. Masters Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 80°F on average, January about 47°F. Fish stay active all year, but they move with the heat. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Plan around that when you fish Masters Lake. The first warm week of the year changes everything here.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. For a change of water, Lake Oz is 1 mile distant. What applies at Masters Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
