Overcast skies today, with a light NNE breeze with a softening glass. Lake Nasworthy should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Within Tom Green County, Texas, you have Lake Nasworthy. Dry hill runs right down to the water. It measures some 1,400 acres, and wind has room to build across it. There is roughly 12 miles of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. It ranks among the bigger water on our Texas list. Start from San Angelo, 6.7 miles down the road. Grape Creek is 14 miles and Robert Lee 35 miles. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Recorded soundings reach about 28 feet at the deepest point. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Nearby survey and observation records mention largemouth bass, channel catfish and Florida largemouth bass. The records cover the area rather than this water alone. The shape of Lake Nasworthy decides where the fish sit.
Temperature averages peak at 83°F in July and bottom out at 45°F in January. It fishes twelve months of the year. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer squeezes it into the edges of the day. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. That is the shape of the year on Lake Nasworthy.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. A slipway half a mile out gives trailer access. The nearest mapped parking is half a mile away, so the last stretch is on foot. Mapping shows a jetty some half a mile off. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Twin Buttes Reservoir at 3.5 miles is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lake Nasworthy if anything is unclear.
