Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a light E breeze with pressure dropping. The water to cover at Lake Eanes is structure within a cast of the bank. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Today's heat will shut the shallows by late morning.

Lake Eanes is one of the Comanche County waters in Texas. The bank gives way to dry hill. The water covers some 114 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. There is not much shape to the outline, and the wind crosses it unbroken. Compared with other Texas water on our list, it sits high. 3.3 miles away sits Comanche, the nearest town. Beyond it, De Leon at 19 miles and Early at 20 miles. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Records collected within a few miles name largemouth bass, striped bass, channel catfish and blue catfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lake Eanes the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Averages move between 44°F in January and 82°F in July. No part of the year shuts this water. March through May is the strongest run, with autumn a second stretch. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Lake Eanes runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Lake Comanche is 3 miles off. Treat Lake Eanes as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
