A still, cloudless night on the water, with next to no ripple and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Harris Lake should come off points where shallow meets deep. The productive run goes night into morning. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The heat is the story today; plan around it.

Harris Lake is a Harrison County water, in Texas. Everything around it is pine and hardwood. It covers about 16 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Head to Marshall, 1.5 miles away, for anything you forgot. Jefferson lies 14 miles off, Hallsville another 14 miles. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Built water gives depth close in, which suits a bank angler. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. Species logged nearby in open biodiversity records include bluegill, rainbow trout and channel catfish. The records cover the area rather than this water alone. Read Harris Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Typical July readings run about 82°F; by January the average is down near 44°F. Warm months push fish deep; cool months bring them back. Late winter and spring fish steadiest here. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. The season on Harris Lake rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is somewhere to leave the car, half a mile off. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Holmes Lake is 2.9 miles off. Nothing here settles the position at Harris Lake for certain.
