No direct sun expected today, with a light chop building from the S and steady pressure. Most of the action on Gressett Lake should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Gressett Lake in the Grayson County part of Texas. The bank is 741 feet above sea level. Surface area runs to about 9 acres — small enough to read in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Grayson County. Supplies mean a trip to Collinsville, 3.7 miles off. McKinney is the closest city, 30 miles away. Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Levels move with the draw rather than the rain on water like this. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include largemouth bass, white crappie, bluegill, gizzard shad and redear sunfish. Reporting is uneven, so absence from the list means little. Gressett Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Average temperature peaks around 84°F in July and bottoms out near 41°F in January. The hard part of the year is the heat, not the cold. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer squeezes it into the edges of the day. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. At Gressett Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is B and L Ranch Lake, 8.5 miles out. For Gressett Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
