Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover largemouth bass, threadfin shad, gizzard shad and Rio Grande longear sunfish. That is what has been logged nearby, not a stocking list, so check local rules before you plan around any one species. On Fowler Old River a short move beats a long cast.

Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Armstrong Lake is 2.5 miles off. Rules at Fowler Old River are worth checking on the day.
