Broken cloud and shifting light today, with an easy breeze from the NE and pressure going nowhere. On Duncan Lake, work points where shallow meets deep first. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Hot air, warm water: think deep, shaded and early.

The Gregg County end of Texas holds Duncan Lake. It sits at 341 feet above sea level. At roughly 10 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Head to Kilgore, 1.9 miles away, for anything you forgot. After that come Liberty City at 7.1 miles and White Oak at 9.4 miles. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Species logged nearby in open biodiversity records include bluegill, Rio Grande longear sunfish, spotted bass and warmouth. The list reflects reported sightings and surveys rather than what is stocked. Duncan Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate records put July near 83°F and January near 45°F. The season runs year-round, with the peak either side of summer. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer squeezes it into the edges of the day. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Plan around that when you fish Duncan Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. You can leave the car about 160 yards from the water. Public data records a pier about half a mile out. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Elder Lake at 1.6 miles is the sensible second choice. Signs at Duncan Lake carry more weight than any list.
