A closed sky with even light today, with a soft ENE wind with pressure climbing. Most of the action on Double Lakes should come off the shallows early and the drop later. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Texas holds Double Lakes, in Liberty County. Elevation runs to 75 feet. At roughly 25 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Nearest town is Shepherd, 15 miles off. Cleveland is 17 miles and Liberty 21 miles. Water in the same corner: Little Brushy Lake (0.3 miles), 0.6 miles out stands Old River Lake, Fields Lake (0.7 miles), 0.8 miles out stands Round Lake and Stub Lake (1.4 miles). No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover bluegill, redbreast sunfish, spotted gar, redear sunfish and bantam sunfish. Reported species tell you what lives around here, nothing more. On Double Lakes the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warmest month averages 82°F, the coldest about 50°F. Every month fishes, though midsummer narrows the useful hours. March through May is the strongest run, with autumn a second stretch. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. Double Lakes runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bluegill and other panfish take small jigs or worms under a float near any cover. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Little Brushy Lake, 0.3 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. For Double Lakes in particular, ask before you travel.
