• Where to Fish on Clear Creek Lake

The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Fish reported in the area, according to open records, include redbreast sunfish, largemouth bass, Guadalupe bass and warmouth. It is a record of sightings and surveys, so use it as a guide. Clear Creek Lake fishes better once you know its edges.

• Seasonal Patterns

The range across the year is 45°F to 81°F. Winter is the comfortable season here rather than the difficult one. Late winter and spring fish steadiest here. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Plan any trip to Clear Creek Lake around it. A rising level usually fishes better than a falling one.

• Tackle & Baits

Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Camilla Lake at 13 miles is the nearest alternative. Confirm access to Clear Creek Lake locally before you travel.
