A clear night sky over the water, with a light chop building from the SW and pressure ticking upward. Expect most activity at Bugbee Creek around eddies behind cover. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

In Texas, Bugbee Creek falls inside Hutchinson County. Country round the bank runs to open valley. It is high ground by Texas standards. The town to know is Fritch, 4.6 miles out. Borger follows at 11 miles, then Stinnett at 12 miles. Other water nearby: Weatherly Lake 10 miles away, Weymouth Middle Lake at 12 miles, Pantex Reservoir 12 miles away, Griffin Estate Lake Number 1 at 19 miles and Icehouse Lake 22 miles away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Undercut banks hold fish that the middle of the river never will. The outside of each bend cuts deepest and holds the better fish. Records held for Hutchinson County cover walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, green sunfish and bluegill. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Work Bugbee Creek in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The seasonal spread runs 35°F to 79°F. In milder years the surface never sets. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. Anyone fishing Bugbee Creek regularly works to that calendar. A rising level usually fishes better than a falling one.
No access rule appears in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Weatherly Lake is 10 miles off. None of that is settled for Bugbee Creek in what we hold.
