A clean, cloudless night over the water, with a light chop building from the S with the glass slipping lower. Most of the action on Bringle Lake should come off any hard bottom among the soft. The day peaks in the evening. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Bringle Lake lies in Bowie County, in Texas. The water sits 315 feet up. It runs to roughly 233 acres — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Around 3.7 miles of bank, which is a long day on foot. It is the biggest water on our Bowie County list. The closest town, Nash, is 4.5 miles away. For a city, Shreveport is 71 miles off. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Built water gives depth close in, which suits a bank angler. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Records collected within a few miles name rainbow trout, channel catfish, bluegill, slough darter and bantam sunfish. Records come from public data, not from a stocking programme. At Bringle Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Typical July readings run about 82°F; by January the average is down near 42°F. Fish stay active all year, but they move with the heat. Late winter and spring fish steadiest here. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. The season on Bringle Lake rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping shows a ramp about half a mile from the shore. A pier or jetty stands half a mile away, which helps on a crowded bank. There is a toilet block some half a mile out. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. If the gate is shut, King Lake at 1.5 miles is the nearest alternative. Confirm access to Bringle Lake locally before you travel.
