Look for Lower Reserve in Berkeley County, South Carolina. The shore lies 16 miles out. The water covers some 67 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our South Carolina listings. The nearest place of any size is Moncks Corner, 12 miles away. Goose Creek is 14 miles away, with Awendaw at 14 miles. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. Species logged nearby in open biodiversity records include American eel, redbreast sunfish, spotted sunfish, redfin pickerel and chain pickerel. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lower Reserve gives up more to patience than to distance.
Seasonal averages run from 47°F in January up to 81°F in July. Summer heat is the limit here, not winter cold. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. Spring and autumn carry the year; summer squeezes it into the ends of the day. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lower Reserve.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Upper Reserve, 0.7 miles away. Signs at Lower Reserve carry more weight than any list.
