A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the WSW with pressure dropping. The fish at Collin Lake are likely to sit near the seam between weed and open water. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Collin Lake sits within Horry County in South Carolina. The shore lies 30 miles out. At 2 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It lies lower than most water we list in South Carolina. Supplies mean a trip to Red Hill, 5.7 miles off. Beyond it, Johnsonville at 11 miles and Pamplico at 15 miles. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover eastern mudminnow. The list reflects reported sightings and surveys rather than what is stocked. At Collin Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Between January at about 45°F and July at about 80°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter is a mild inconvenience here, nothing more. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. On Collin Lake that shapes the whole year.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. One rod, a handful of hooks and floats, and a few small lures are enough for this water. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Fair Lake, 0.4 miles away, makes the obvious fallback.
