Cloud coming and going through the night, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and a falling glass. The fish at Davol Pond are likely to sit near the deeper corner and inflow. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Washington County entry here is Davol Pond, in Rhode Island. Around the bank it is mixed woodland. About 16 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Rhode Island listings. Start from East Greenwich, 3.7 miles down the road. North Kingstown is 4.7 miles and Exeter 6.2 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Being tidal, the water moves twice a day, and the fishing moves with it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Washington County cover alewife, bluegill and striped bass. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Davol Pond the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The seasonal spread runs 28°F to 72°F. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. It holds true on Davol Pond more years than not. Water temperature lags the air by a week or so.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. A slipway is marked about half a mile from here. There is a marina, Quonset Davisville Navy Yacht Club, half a mile away. Recorded parking is half a mile off, far enough to travel light. Fishing from a pier is possible half a mile away. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Should this one be busy, Frys Pond is 0.6 miles off. The position on Davol Pond is worth confirming on the day.
