Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with mild air moving in from the SSW and a falling glass. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Indian Lake. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Indian Lake is a Luzerne County water, in Pennsylvania. The setting is rolling bush on every side. It runs to roughly 32 acres — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. About 1.0 miles of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Pennsylvania listings. Nearest place of any size is Laflin, 9.9 miles away. Dupont follows at 10 miles, then Browntown at 10 miles. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Luzerne County include brown trout, brook trout and largemouth bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Indian Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
In an average year July sits at 67°F and January at 22°F. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early April. From about early April to around mid December, expect open water on the long-run figures. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan any trip to Indian Lake around it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The water borders State Game Lands Number 91, so expect the reserve rules to apply. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Meadow Run Ponds is 1.9 miles distant. Treat Indian Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
