A rainy spell sitting over the area, with stillness over the whole water and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Twin Lakes along the weed line and any gaps in it. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
Look for Twin Lakes in Clackamas County, Oregon. The bank is 4,193 feet above sea level. Head to Mount Hood Village, 17 miles away, for anything you forgot. After that come Odell at 28 miles and Sandy at 30 miles. Nearby, in order: Frog Lake within 1.5 miles, Green Lake at 1.9 miles, Catalpa Lake within 2.2 miles, Trillium Lake at 3.7 miles and Clear Lake within 4.2 miles. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name Coho salmon, rainbow trout, Chinook salmon and cutthroat trout. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Anyone new to Twin Lakes should walk it once before setting up.
Climate normals give 58°F for August and 29°F for January. Fishing continues through most of the calendar, with quiet spells rather than closures. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Expect Twin Lakes to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. You can camp about half a mile away, going by the mapping. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Frog Lake is 1.5 miles off. The position on Twin Lakes is worth confirming on the day.
