• Where to Fish on Spinning Lake

The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Marion County: bluegill, largemouth bass and largescale sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Spinning Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.

• Seasonal Patterns

Expect August to average close to 55°F, with January the cold end at about 28°F. A long season, with weather mattering more than the month. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. At Spinning Lake the season follows that pattern closely.

• Tackle & Baits

Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Davey Lake is 0.4 miles off.
