A sharp, clear morning turning into a bright day, with mild air moving in from the W with pressure dropping. Most of the action on Saddle Lake should come off sheltered bays and points. The productive run goes night into morning. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Saddle Lake falls in Klamath County, part of Oregon. Elevation runs to 6,227 feet. It covers about 6 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Oregon listings. Nearest place of any size is Oakridge, 26 miles away. The big place round here is Eugene, 64 miles distant. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Klamath County: rainbow trout, klamath largescale sucker, brook trout and yellow perch. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Saddle Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Averages move between 28°F in December and 56°F in August. The year turns gently, without extremes at either end. In milder years the edges alone go, and the middle never sets. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. The season on Saddle Lake follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Stag Lake sits 1 mile off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Saddle Lake if anything is unclear.
