Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a whisper of wind from the WSW with a softening glass. The water to cover at Red Lake is the seam between weed and open water. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Red Lake is set in Klamath County, Oregon. The bank is 5,850 feet above sea level. With some 30 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 1.0 miles, and most of it is walkable. The nearest place of any size is Eagle Point, 29 miles away. Further out sit Shady Cove (29 miles) and White City (31 miles). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Klamath County include rainbow trout, klamath largescale sucker, brook trout and yellow perch. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Red Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The year swings from about 27°F in December to roughly 57°F in August. Neither winter nor summer shuts things down for long. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Plan around that when you fish Red Lake.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Dee Lake, 1.1 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. For Red Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
