Moonlight in and out behind the cloud tonight, with the surface near flat with pressure climbing. The fish at Minear Reservoir are likely to sit near rip-rap and rocky transitions. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Minear Reservoir lies in Jackson County, in Oregon. The water sits 1,519 feet up. A pocket of water where every cast reaches cover. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Jackson County. Nearest town is Medford, 2.5 miles off. After that come Jacksonville at 3 miles and Phoenix at 5 miles. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Jackson County names rainbow trout, black crappie and largemouth bass. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Minear Reservoir for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Expect July near 71°F and December near 38°F on the long-run figures. The surface stays open the year round. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Minear Reservoir fishes to that pattern most years. The week either side of a change of season often fishes hardest.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is a car park half a mile from the bank. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Hunter-Best Reservoirs at 7.4 miles is the sensible second choice.
