Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a light W breeze with pressure dropping. On Dollar Lake, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Dollar Lake in Wallowa County, Oregon. It lies 8,425 feet above sea level. It covers about 5 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. On size it sits at the modest end of our Wallowa County list. Joseph at 12 miles is the nearest place to stop. After that come Enterprise at 17 miles and Union at 33 miles. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Wallowa County, recorded fish include sockeye salmon, brook trout, rainbow trout, mountain whitefish and largescale sucker. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Anyone new to Dollar Lake should walk it once before setting up.
August runs about 51°F on average, December about 19°F. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Count the season from break-up, usually late May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late May until roughly mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan around that when you fish Dollar Lake.
Access is not recorded for this water. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Jewett Lake is 1.1 miles off. None of that is settled for Dollar Lake in what we hold.
