Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a whisper of wind from the WSW and pressure on the rise. On Locust Lake, work bays that hold the day's warmth first. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Locust Lake in the Clermont County part of Ohio. Land around it is open valley. Small at around 3 acres: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Amelia sits 0.9 miles from the bank. The big place round here is Cincinnati, 17 miles distant. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking. Conditions change the water more than the calendar does.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Records held for Clermont County cover smallmouth bass, bluegill, rainbow darter, longear sunfish and spotted bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The near bank of Locust Lake is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 74°F and January near 29°F. The freeze here is occasional rather than annual. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. Anyone fishing Locust Lake regularly works to that calendar.
We hold no note on access for this one. The nearest car park is half a mile from the water. There is a pier recorded roughly 80 yards away. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Royal Oaks Course Pond Number Two is 2.3 miles distant. None of that is settled for Locust Lake in what we hold.
