Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a steady WSW wind with the glass slipping lower. Whatever swims in Granger Lake should be near any hard bottom among the soft. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Granger Lake lies in Medina County, in Ohio. This is rolling bush country. It covers about 23 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Few waters listed in Medina County are bigger. For a base, Montrose-Ghent sits 2.6 miles out. Copley lies 4.5 miles off, Fairlawn another 4.7 miles. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Records held for Medina County cover bluegill, johnny darter, rainbow darter, fantail darter and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Work Granger Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The range across the year is 24°F to 71°F. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late March. Break-up sits around late March on average, with the water closing again about late December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Granger Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Von Gunten Pond is 2.2 miles distant. Nothing on Granger Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
