No direct sun expected today, with barely a breath of wind and a rising glass. The productive water at Coronado Lake will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Coronado Lake is one of the Stark County waters in Ohio. Beyond the shoreline you have farm and woodlot. About 6 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Massillon at 3.7 miles is the nearest place to stop. Akron sits 16 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Built water gives depth close in, which suits a bank angler. Standing timber shows when the level drops, and fish sit against it. Open biodiversity records for Stark County list bluegill, johnny darter, white sucker, green sunfish and rainbow darter. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Coronado Lake should walk it once before setting up.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 72°F, while January sits near 25°F. Mild ends to the year keep the season long. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. That is the shape of the year on Coronado Lake.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Crystal Springs Trailhead Parking Lot holds the nearest mapped parking, half a mile out. Bluegill and other panfish take small jigs or worms under a float near any cover. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Crystal Lakes at 0.6 miles is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Coronado Lake for certain.
