Dull, settled light over the water, with an easy breeze from the SSW with pressure climbing. Activity on Susie Lake should centre on the shallows early and the drop later. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Susie Lake is a Killarney-Turtle Mountain water, in Manitoba. Lake country bush runs right down to the water. Small even by pond standards, it rewards one careful line. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Killarney-Turtle Mountain. 20 km away sits Belcourt, the nearest town. It is 220 km to Winnipeg, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Killarney-Turtle Mountain include white sucker, johnny darter, northern pike and yellow perch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Susie Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -17°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. At Susie Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records show it does not hold water year-round. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Mosher Lake at 0.4 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Susie Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
