Lyde Lake near Shell Valley: Fishing Spots, Seasons and Access

• Overview

  Look for Lyde Lake in the Rolette County part of North Dakota. The surface lies 2,110 feet up. At about 212 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 2.8 miles of margin, front to back. It is among the larger waters listed here for Rolette County. Shell Valley lies 13 miles from the water. Belcourt follows at 16 miles, then Bottineau at 19 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.

• Where to Fish on Lyde Lake

  Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Rolette County include bluegill, northern pike, white bass and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lyde Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
