Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the NE and pressure leaking away. Whatever swims in Lake Wilson should be near the calm side of the wind. The graph is flat today, and flat is fishable. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lake Wilson lies in Wilson County, North Carolina. Height above sea level is 115 feet. Roughly 81 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge runs 1.5 miles or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is among the larger waters listed here for Wilson County. Elm City lies 3.5 miles from the water. Raleigh is the closest city, 40 miles away. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Species logged across Wilson County include bluegill, redbreast sunfish and tadpole madtom. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Lake Wilson to its features, not to its size.
The year swings from about 40°F in January to roughly 79°F in July. Cold never closes this one. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. Spring and autumn carry the year; summer squeezes it into the ends of the day. Plan any trip to Lake Wilson around it. Long dry spells drop the level and concentrate them.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. The nearest car park is half a mile from the water. There is a toilet block some half a mile out. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Toisnot Reservoir, 3.4 miles out. None of that is settled for Lake Wilson in what we hold.
