Passing showers with dry spells between, with just enough WNW wind to ripple the surface as pressure slides. Swan Lake should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. If you pick one session, make it the middle of the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Herkimer County entry here is Swan Lake, in New York. The setting is mixed forest on every side. At about 31 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 1.0 miles or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Dolgeville lies 21 miles from the water. Then Boonville, 23 miles, and Little Falls, 24 miles. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Herkimer County records list white sucker, yellow perch, brook trout and brown bullhead among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. Swan Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July near 65°F and January near 16°F on the long-run figures. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Break-up near mid April, freeze-up near early December: that is the shape of an average year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Swan Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Bullhead Pond, 0.9 miles away. Nothing on Swan Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
