A grey, even sky over the water, with stillness over the whole water and a falling glass. Whatever swims in Pine Lake should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. Make the evening the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Pine Lake sits in Westchester County, out in New York. The shore lies 2.5 miles out. This is a pocket water of some 3 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Westchester County list holds plenty of bigger water. The town to know is Crugers, 2.1 miles out. Montrose follows at 2.3 miles, then Cortlandt Manor at 2.4 miles. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Westchester County include common carp, striped bass, bluegill and brown trout. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Pine Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The seasonal spread runs 28°F to 73°F. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. It is not guaranteed from one year to the next. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Expect Pine Lake to follow that timing. Spring warms the shallows first, so start there.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is somewhere to leave the car, half a mile off. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Dickerson Pond sits 0.7 miles off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Pine Lake before loading the car.
