A grey, even sky over the water, with an easy breeze from the WNW and pressure easing off. Expect most activity at Oceola Lake around windblown banks where food collects. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Oceola Lake in the Westchester County part of New York. Mixed woodland runs right down to the water. Surface area is around 38 acres, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The whole outline is near 0.9 miles, and most of it is walkable. Jefferson Valley-Yorktown sits 1.1 miles from the bank. North Stamford is the closest city, 19 miles away. You are close to a county edge here; who manages the access can change within a short drive.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Open biodiversity records for Westchester County list common carp, striped bass, bluegill and brown trout. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Oceola Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-run averages give July about 72°F and January about 26°F. The year turns gently, without extremes at either end. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. Anyone fishing Oceola Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Parking is close: a car park sits half a mile from the bank. The water borders Danner Family Preserve, so expect the reserve rules to apply. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Barger Pond, 2 miles away. Check the position on Oceola Lake before loading the car.
